Lebanon Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting Date: Jul 15, 2013

President Jeff Gray called the regularly scheduled meeting of the Lebanon Public Library Board of Trustees to order on Monday, Jun 10, 2013 at 7:00 PM. Other members physically present: LuAnn Holper (Treasurer), Susan Meister, Paula Gross, Samantha Rogers, Sy Korte, Rick Gale (Recording Secretary), Betty Willyard, and Kelly Wilhelm (Librarian).

Members absent: Miranda Wright-Kauffmann
The minutes of the June 20132 meeting were not available due to emailing difficulties. Both June and July’s minutes will be approved at the Aug meeting.

Librarian’s Report

The Library Report was submitted by Kelly Wilhelm and was accepted. The following items of discussion were also made with each item:

o Kelly stated she is trying to replace the rolling chairs as needed with old ones from the city.

o Some discussion was held concerning how we can improve on some items for next year’s annual report. Kelly will bring these up throughout the year as needed.

Receipts

  • Receipts of $10,644,34 were reviewed. Part of this was the county tax monies starting to flow in.   Bills
  • Bills were reviewed and explained by Luanne Motion to Pay Bills

Sy motioned to pay the bills and Paula seconded. All approved. Treasurer’s Report

Luanne explained the budget outlay. Rick asked to include a % amount for where we are actually at through the fiscal year so we can more easily see if we are on track or not.

Old Business

  • Kelly discussed the hallway issue as remaining a concern. Patrons simply will not use the restroom there due to the condition of the hallway. The board felt it was important to talk to our new Mayor and see if we could arrange something to be done. Most board members felt even just a coat of a white paint would make a big difference in brightening up the area.
  • Susan discussed her displeasure with the format of our web site and wanted permission to be able to work on it some. The board agreed and gave her the OK to proceed with her recommendations.New Business

Kelly discussed the need for a new library. She recently went on a tour with our new mayor of the Lebanon Elementary Scholl area and discussed a proposal to move the library there after a new elementary school is built. It would give us a much larger and newer space. Parking should not be an issue as the older building is going to be demolished and a parking lot installed in its place. A tour has been set up for 09:00 on Tuesday for anyone wanting to walk through the area.

  • A discussion was held about how we could start back up the Friends of the Library Group or Foundation. This would help us obtain future grants by having this a viable foundation in our corner.
  • The Rotary will not be paying for the water cooler next year according the one of the Rotary members/Alderwoman.
  • The new photography studio “Sassafras” is willing to sponsor an off-site reading type event there in their property. More on this to follow once some details can be arranged.Announcements:
