President Jeff Gray called the regularly scheduled meeting to order on Monday, August 12 at 7:00 p.m. Members physically present: LuAnn Helper (Treasurer), Paula Gross, Sy Korte, Samantha Rogers, Miranda Wright-Kauffmann, and Kelly Wilhelm (Librarian).
Members absent: Susan Meister and Betty Willyard.
Guest: Al Gerdes
The minutes of the July 15, 2013 meeting were approved as written.
Librarian’s Report
A patron was verbally abusive to the Library Staff. Police was called. She will be banned from returning and her card was blocked. She was gone when the police arrived.
The police talked to several people who have not returned books.
Kelly found some shelves from Greenville College.
Friends of the Library will meet on September 20. About 20 people are interested. Details to follow.
Grant for new library to take care of heating, plumbing, etc.
Receipts
Tax money is coming in. Bills were received and explained by LuAnn. Had a question about the water paid for by the Rotary Club. They will no longer fund this. Motion to pay bills was made by Sy and seconded by Samantha. Motion approved.
LuAnn explained the budget outlay sheet. She included a %amount to show where we are and keep us on track. Audit was done and everything is ok.
Old Business
Website: Al asked, “What do we want the site to do?” We thought it was important to re-visit this issue. A board member requested some changes. Example: how to inform people about the library, jump to other places, calendar of events, description of new books, etc. We can contact Polaris to help with this issue. Al is willing to work with us and brainstorm ideas. Motion was made to spend $5 per month for a Basic Plus account. Miranda motioned and LuAnn seconded. Motion approved. Susan, Rick and Kelly will work with Al. Miranda will help if needed. Kelly asked us to look at the web-site and let her know if we have any changes/ideas/concerns.
The board is in the process of coming up with a form to evaluate the Director. We will discuss this at the next meeting.
The Lebanon School Board will meet in Sept. to disucss/give/rent/sell the new uprary to the city of Lebanon. Details to follow. kelly will talk to Mr. Keeney. Jeff will talk to the mayor concerning issues we have.
